‘Going for refuge is primary, lifestyle is secondary, but not unimportant.’
This is one of the most significant realisations Sangharakshita had about Buddhism, why? Because it breaks the pattern of life-style elitism that had characterised the Buddhist tradition. He saw that everyone is able to bring Buddhism into their lives as fully as they wish to. We’ll be marking the 100th anniversary of his birth with an exploration of this aphorism.
The morning will include meditation, input and discussion.
Shared lunch from 1-2.
In the afternoon we will be ritually and collectively witnessing and celebrating Roz Goddard as she leaves to be Ordained. What better way to mark the birth of the founder of this community than witnessing the flame of the dharma being transmitted. If you can only come for Roz’s send off please make sure you arrive before 2pm.
