Birmingham Sangha Retreat: Myth, Symbol and the Imagination

10 – 16 June at Adhisthana (near Malvern)
Led by Maitrisara and Dharmashalin. Open to anyone who’s completed an introductory course at the Buddhist Centre.

Buddhism is full of good ideas but, as we all know, good ideas are not enough. On this retreat we’ll be exploring the realm of myth and imagination. How can our imagination unlock a realm of beauty and possibility and show us the way to greater freedom? We’ll be both drawing on the Buddhist tradition and looking at how the myths and symbols of our own culture can enrich and deepen our practice.

The retreat will include meditation, talks and presentations, small group discussions, creative workshops (art, poetry) and ritual. There will be one silent day in the middle of the retreat to create conditions for us to relax more deeply into our inner experience.

Being on retreat with others from the Birmingham Buddhist Centre allows friendships to form and a sense of community to grow. This is a wonderful way to deepen our practice and strengthen the relationships within the sangha and we’d love you to join us.

Adhisthana has a global significance for our Triratna Buddhist Community and we are very lucky that  for us its just an hour’s drive away. Read more about it here.
