Festivals

Buddha Day 2008 at the Birmingham Buddhist Centre

This year's celebration of the complete awakening of the Buddha takes place over two days.  In honour of Siddhartha's efforts we are going to begin the festival with an all night meditation, finishing just after dawn.  Later there will be more meditation, and after lunch the chance to look at what the Buddhist canon says of the awakening experience.  After a tea break Vishvapani, who at present is researching and writing a book on the Buddha, will give a talk exploring an aspect of the Buddha's life and teaching.  Following dinner there will be a festival puja.
